IDEAS & Concept

This project initially came about because we wanted to create an engaging adaptation of a comic series that we truly enjoyed and admired called ‘False Knees,’ crafted by Joshua Berkmann. Our goal was to elevate the comedic timing, enhance the playful nature, and encourage user creativity, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the hilarious world of his short comic stories.

Additionally, we aimed to combine and tailor several of the authors shorts from his comic strips into one cohesive, ongoing experience that we hoped would resonate with both existing fans and new fans who would try our experience in VR.

Storyboarding

I wanted to try out new ways to create storyboards for my Virtual Reality games by hand drawing out models and events directly using my VR headset. I found Google Tilt Brush to be a really cool tool because it allowed me to see visualise and draw everthing in front of me, which helped me understand the size, scale, and distance of the characters within the space.

This method has a really positive affect on storyboarding for me by turning it into a more enjoyable experience for me, utilizing the same medium in which the project would be displayed and played by users in the end.
